latest news about, Insurance Institute For Highway Safety: Nineteen vehicles and 8 SUVs earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick Award for 2010. The award recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting people in front, side and rear, and rollover on the basis of good grades in school tests.

Subaru is the only automotive manufacturer to the winners in the four classes in which it competes. The manufacturer won five overall for 2010.

Ford and its Volvo subsidiary, won six awards for Volkswagen and Audi of five and four Chrylser.

Cars of the major automakers, however, were absent. A press release issued by the Insurance Institute said that although his Toyota and Lexus and Scion subsidiaries did well in 2009 with 11 winners of the awards, which were completely excluded from this year.

And the new Honda Accord fell short in terms of roof strength rating two years after being named Top Safety Pick. The Ford Fusion, the institute noted, was removed from the list for the same reason.

The popular Toyota Camry would have earned a Top Safety Pick in situ, according to the institute, if their seats and head restraints protect against whiplash, was rated good rather than marginal.
