A small aircraft plane has crashed into a 7-story office building in North Austin near Mopac and 183.  The plane crashed into the Echelon building around 10 a.m. Thursday morning.  Police have blocked off access roads around the building.

Authorities are investigating an Austin plane crash that took place this morning at an office building in Northwest Austin, Texas.

Austin police say a small plane crashed into the seven-story building in the 9400 block of Research Boulevard, per the Austin Statesman. A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said the crash was “apparently a criminal act.”

CNN is reporting that the man set his house on fire, stole the plane and crashed it intentionally, citing a federal official.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the building is located on a major highway in the city.

CBS Radio News tweeted that the FBI has an office nearby the site in the same office park. The building that was hit houses the IRS, according to reports.

Austin police said at least two people were hospitalized and one person was unaccounted for.
