Supreme Court Adjourns POL Rate Hearing for 4 Weeks

ISLAMABAD: A three-member bench of Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry Thursday adjourned the hearing of the plea against hike in petroleum prices for four weeks.Supreme Court Adjourns POL Rate Hearing for 4 Weeks

Attorney General Latif Khosa presented copy of the presidential ordinance in the court. He told the court that the presidential ordinance has imposed petroleum levy, adding that carbon tax has been abolished.

In the court he confessed that imposing of Carbon tax by the government was incorrect.

The apex court adjourned hearing on plea by lawyers of petroleum companies.

On the occasion presidential spokesman Farhat Ullah Babar told the reporters that presidential ordinance was legal and said the government has respected the Supreme Court.

On the other hand, Advocate Ikram Chaudhry, the lawyer of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz secretary general Iqbal Zafar Jhagra who filed the petition against hike in petroleum product prices, said he would approach the court after two days.
